Long time no post!

A little night time biking and skating

Sister love!

Good morning Anika!

A typical Caylin look...

Ok, it’s been a looooong time since I’ve posted!! It seems like I just don’t have time to get on and journal! Anika is wanting more attention and she and Caylin do not nap at the same time (which needs to change!).
Last month I didn’t post about Easter because we really didn’t have an Easter. We were ALL out of it with the flu. It is very challenging to care for 3 kiddos with the flu while mom and dad both have it too. I’m very glad that is over with!! A little before Easter, my dear sweet Nana passed away. I do miss her but I keep thinking of how much she wanted to be with Jesus. I’m realizing now too how much she taught me and what a strong woman she was. Her faith was unbreakable, and her unconditional love for everyone was unchangeable. And of course now I wish I would have spent more time with her. We had a memorial service for her on March 31 which would have been her 90th birthday.

Updates on the kids:
Aiana is doing great. She joined the worship band for the middle school youth group. She is loving it! Between Will and I, we get her to band practice and youth group on Wed nights and 7am on Sunday mornings (which then she stays until noon). It’s a big commitment but SO worth it! Aiana is turning into such a confident and compassionate young lady. She’s looking forward and already making plans for her birthday that is coming up in May. Also, looking forward to summer break and summer camp!
Caylin is finally interested in potty training!! YAY!!! We did a short outing today and she stayed dry! I’m very excited about only buying diapers for one child! She’s a sweetie pie. I ended up taking her out of preschool. She liked “cool” and I loved the break, but there was something in me that felt like it wasn’t time yet. I’m enjoying her and we are enjoying hanging out with our friends from our moms group on the days that she was in preschool. We’ll probably start up again after the summer. She loves to ride her bike, play dress up, swim, play at the park, and play with friends. I am finally able to enjoy playdates and visiting with other moms since Caylin has grown out of her biting/hitting/spitting/pushing stage (hallelujah!!!!)!
Anika is just as happy as ever, squealing and laughing all the time. She’s really falling in love with her sisters. I love it because Caylin actually entertains her now. She’s not the best napper, but she will fall asleep on her own, which is something I never experienced with Caylin. She’s a very easy going girl.
Will has been busy with work but he loves what he does. Our weeks are busy and we are craving a vacation…even a night out alone would be nice! But we love our little family!

Anika is 4 mos old!

Little Anika just turned 4 months old and is such a sweet little baby. She's LONG and lean like her dad. She smiles ALL the time and squeals VERY loudly! She's becoming more tolerable of her big sis Caylin, which is nice, and Aiana is in love with her. She can roll over from her back to her front when she really wants too. She's also a got a fiery side to her. She may be calm and sweet but when she has something to say she'll make sure everyone hears her!
The look of determination!

My girls

Standley Idol

Aiana received a letter on Tuesday that (out of 45 students) she made the top 13 of Standley Idol! She had 1 ½ days to learn a song from the 50’s to perform. We went to her performance last night and she did awesome! She sang One Find Day by the Chiffons. Although she didn’t win, she performed like a winner! Most of the performers were 8th graders and the 1st – 3rd place winners were 8th graders. It was a fun show. Aiana had a good time and was happy to make some new friends.

3.8 GPA!

Aiana just brought home her 1st semester report card. She has a GPA of 3.8 with A’s in every class but one (in which she got a B)! The girl is amazing! In the midst of working so hard, she does manage to have lots of fun. She just tried out for Standley Idol, singing No One by Alicia Keys (I wish I could have been there!). She had to audition in front of one teacher and one student. She’s waiting for a call home to find out if she made it. Fingers crossed!

Caylin's 1st day of school

Will and I decided it would be a good idea for Caylin to start preschool. We felt it would give her some time to make new friends and have a break from Anika (or give mom a break) :) There was a spot open at the preschool where I use to teach and Aiana attended. That made things a lot easier for us! Today was Caylin’s first day. We were a little nervous, but Caylin was very excited. She had talked all weekend about going to “cool” on Monday. We even went shopping for a new lunch “peel”. Caylin was happy to see her class again (we went to visit last week). She started to get a little upset when she realized we were leaving, but luckily it was snack time and that diverted her attention. She didn’t even care that we were leaving after that. Whew, we felt a lot better :). I decided to pick her up right after lunch time, before nap, to see how her day went. When we walked in, she was walking down the hall with her little class in her socks getting ready for nap time. SO CUTE! She didn’t want to leave. I told her she could rest with her friends next time. She was so excited. When we got home she was singing new songs, and telling me about her day. She told me that “my friends have boogies, they have runny noses” and pointed to her nose. She also told me that teacher painted her hand and did like this (as she pressed her hand down…I guess they made hand prints) :). Caylin never napped today but she was in the best mood. She was in bed asleep by 7pm. Yay for “cool”!
