Visit with grandma

What a great weekend! We’ve had awesome weather the past few days. Friday we went with our friends to the beach. It was our first beach day of the year and Anika’s first beach day ever. The water was perfect. Caylin had a blast playing in the water and sand with her little girlfriends while Anika hung out in her little cabana.
Saturday we went with some friends to Sea World and had breakfast with Elmo. Sea World is now in collaboration with Seasame Street so there are a few new attractions in which the kids can get up close and personal with Sesame Street characters.

Caylin had a BLAST! It was so cute to watch her excitement when she saw Ernie, Elmo, Zoe, and Big Bird.

The characters came out and danced with the kids, then during their break, the morning turned into “breakfast with Will”. Caylin and her little friends had a great time dancing with Will. After our Sea World outing we picked grandma Airdrie up from the airport. She came to stay with us until Tuesday afternoon. Caylin enjoyed spending time with grandma reading stories together and getting to try on a little bit of her lipstick.

Aiana was away for the evening at Mimi’s (my mom). Clarke and Tami came down for the night so Aiana went over to spend the night with them. They had an awesome visit. Saturday evening they took a walk down to the cliffs in Ocean Beach and it happened to be high tide.
The girls had a blast getting splashed and watching the waves that were crashing right up on the stairs. Sunday we went over to my dads for a barbeque and swimming.

Monday we spent the day at the beach again. This time daddy got to come along too.

Monday evening Will, Aiana, Aiana’s friend, and I went to the Padre game while the grandmas watched Caylin and Anika. I was VERY excited to have a night out without the little ones. I don’t get too much time these days to be with Aiana without her little sisters needing most of my attention. We all had a great time. Will and I really enjoyed Aiana and her friends company. It was nice to be out with the “tweens”, we didn’t have to listen to toddler music in the car and we didn’t have to take anyone potty or change any diapers. We were able to just sit back and enjoy the game and each others company.

Aiana listening to dad explain baseball.

Pouty Princess

Caylin LOVES to dress up in her “princess dresses”. Today she insisted on wearing this dress to Costco and Henrys.

Mother's Day

I had a nice and somewhat relaxing Mother’s Day, as relaxing as it can be with the little ones. My mom, brother, and his family hung out at our house after church. We picnicked in the backyard, it was a little chilly but it was nice to be outside and spending time with my family. It’s so nice that Caylin and Kaila are getting to an age where they can play without fighting! They had so much fun together. I enjoyed watching my mom with all her grandchildren too. It’s amazing how much appreciation I have for my mom that I didn’t have before I became a mother myself. Being a mother is the most rewarding yet selfless experience.
As much as I love hanging out with my family, I think I’m going to extend my Mother’s Day celebration and spend some time getting a massage or going to the spa!

A Day At The Fields

We went to the Carlsbad Flower Fields and Strawberry Fields today. It was so beautiful out there! I want to go back another time with Aiana and Will. It’s a great spot to take photos. Unfortunately Caylin wasn’t in the best of moods, but she still had a great time. She loved picking strawberries and eating them, as well as playing in the mud. Anika, poor girl, wasn’t feeling too good. I suspected earlier in the day that she was having a relapse of pink eye which only seemed to be getting worse. I ended up taking her in to the Dr. when we got home, and as it turns out she has her first ear infection. Not fun! However, she doesn’t complain much. But maybe this has a small part in why she didn’t enjoy her food yesterday?

6 months and eating solids!

Well, sort of eating solids...

It’s hard to acknowledge that Anika is already 6 months old! But she is, and it was time for her to have her first meal of rice cereal! It didn’t go so smooth. She immediately spit out the food and made a “yucky” face. After some bites she gagged. Then was refusing bites. It was still a very cute experience! I tried again today and not only was she gagging and refusing bites, but crying after each bite. We’ll see how it goes, I’ll continue to give her at least one serving of rice cereal a day and hopefully she will get used to the texture and taste?

I was looking back at Caylin’s “1st feeding” photos and remembering that she didn’t have such a difficult time. Of course it was still messy, but I don’t remember her not liking the experience?

Long time no post!

A little night time biking and skating

Sister love!

Good morning Anika!

A typical Caylin look...

Ok, it’s been a looooong time since I’ve posted!! It seems like I just don’t have time to get on and journal! Anika is wanting more attention and she and Caylin do not nap at the same time (which needs to change!).
Last month I didn’t post about Easter because we really didn’t have an Easter. We were ALL out of it with the flu. It is very challenging to care for 3 kiddos with the flu while mom and dad both have it too. I’m very glad that is over with!! A little before Easter, my dear sweet Nana passed away. I do miss her but I keep thinking of how much she wanted to be with Jesus. I’m realizing now too how much she taught me and what a strong woman she was. Her faith was unbreakable, and her unconditional love for everyone was unchangeable. And of course now I wish I would have spent more time with her. We had a memorial service for her on March 31 which would have been her 90th birthday.

Updates on the kids:
Aiana is doing great. She joined the worship band for the middle school youth group. She is loving it! Between Will and I, we get her to band practice and youth group on Wed nights and 7am on Sunday mornings (which then she stays until noon). It’s a big commitment but SO worth it! Aiana is turning into such a confident and compassionate young lady. She’s looking forward and already making plans for her birthday that is coming up in May. Also, looking forward to summer break and summer camp!
Caylin is finally interested in potty training!! YAY!!! We did a short outing today and she stayed dry! I’m very excited about only buying diapers for one child! She’s a sweetie pie. I ended up taking her out of preschool. She liked “cool” and I loved the break, but there was something in me that felt like it wasn’t time yet. I’m enjoying her and we are enjoying hanging out with our friends from our moms group on the days that she was in preschool. We’ll probably start up again after the summer. She loves to ride her bike, play dress up, swim, play at the park, and play with friends. I am finally able to enjoy playdates and visiting with other moms since Caylin has grown out of her biting/hitting/spitting/pushing stage (hallelujah!!!!)!
Anika is just as happy as ever, squealing and laughing all the time. She’s really falling in love with her sisters. I love it because Caylin actually entertains her now. She’s not the best napper, but she will fall asleep on her own, which is something I never experienced with Caylin. She’s a very easy going girl.
Will has been busy with work but he loves what he does. Our weeks are busy and we are craving a vacation…even a night out alone would be nice! But we love our little family!
