Happy (belated) Easter!

Easter has come and gone and I am just now getting to update our blog. I really enjoyed our Easter this year. The day was full of great conversation with friends and family, kids laughing and playing, sun shining, Easter egg hunting, and even an earthquake to shake things up a bit! My heart was happy as I thought about years past. When we first moved into this house I went through such a hard time. New home, Will started a new business, and then we had a new baby...who cried a lot and didn't sleep much, which caused mama to feel pretty hopeless at times. I never knew how I was going to wake up feeling. So, to have this wonderful day with friends and family filled me with peace and joy, and was such a reminder that God is constantly moving and working in our lives for good.

The week prior was laid back.

Celebrating Grandpa's birthday

While out to lunch with Mimi, this huge parrot scared Anika so bad with it's super loud squawk! She continues to talk about the loud "carrot"

So much fun to color eggs! Good thing Anika isn't allergic to the shell of the egg!

Gotta love the neighborhood egg hunt (p.s. this is a good shot of where Caylin cut a chunk out of the back of her hair)

And of course, the Easter basket scavenger hunt...that usually begins at the crack of dawn

Day of flowers

I love flowers and the flower fields was just what I needed today! The little girls and I spent the morning at the flower fields. We had a wonderful morning roaming the fields, relaxing on the tractor ride, and playing at the playground.

Of course there's no better way to end a day at the fields than to enjoy some scrumptious strawberries!

Today was Caylin's special day at school. She brought in a poster all about her, also, her favorite toy (which was a baby doll), favorite book (Emma's Pet and a Pooh Bear book), and favorite cd (Hullabaloo).

Her poster read:
Favorite color: Purple
Favorite animal: Cat
Favorite food: Watermelon
Favorite Place: The snow
Favorite thing to do: Go to the snow
When I grow up I want to be: A mom

If I had one wish, I'd wish for: A cat (confession, she first said "to have a baby in my tummy" but I asked the question again and she said "a cat")

She got to sit in a special chair during class, shared her music, and teacher read her book.

Aiana had her final middle school track and field day. She placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 3rd in the relay.

We also had a visit from our wonderful friends. My mom's childhood friend, they've been friends since they were about 6 years old! She came with her son and his daughter, who we got to meet for the first time. She is a sweetheart. She and Caylin had a blast together, playing dress up mostly.

The weather has been wonderful lately! Yay for Spring!!

Suprise visitor

Tonight as I went to close the blinds, I saw something hanging down one of the blinds....then realized what it was!!!! Thank you God, that Will was home to help catch this creature! I seriously don't know what I would have done!

Caylin's new do

Caylin took about an inch and a half off of her hair in several spots. I didn't get any before pictures, the damage wouldn't have really shown up well in a photo, but she needed a fix indeed. So we took a trip to the salon after school today to get things evened out.

Beautiful day!

I can not think of a time I've gone to La Jolla cliffs and not enjoyed myself, no matter what the weather. Today was chilly but gorgeous. It was just what I needed after a week of being indoors fighting colds. A friend of mine suggested a trip to the La Jolla Cave, which I've never seen.

Will was able to join us too since it was close to his lunch break. The kids were a little nervous, it was dark and the sound of the ocean echoed up the tunnel. But they all made it down the 145 stairs!

We saw the profile of Sunny Jim and watched the waves crash in for a while. Then had a picnic, chased birds, and put our feet in the water.
